Truly Yourself (Ruslan Ivanov)

                                       Truly Yourself.

After going back and forth and switching between ideas of what kind of form my final project should take, I have finally realized that creating a video wasn't something I would be excited about. I wanted to create a media piece that could interact with it’s audience. Therefore, I have developed a website called “Truly Yourself”.

It was inspired by the readings and many of the viewings from the class. The main goals of the website is to spread awareness about the effect of the media on our female population as well as provide information to those who are seeking advice. In the first page “Truly Yourself” introduces its visitor with the general info on how and why media portrays women in such pervasive ways. From that page it is easy to navigate to the subpages, where I located info on how to learn to love your body and change perspectives on the woman's role in the society.

There is also a page that consists of videos of real (non actor) girls speaking on how they dealt with their issues of the body image, social acceptance and others. On the same page any visitor can submit their own story, by uploading their videos.

The most interactive part of the website is it’s blog. I will be posting threads, on which every visitor can comment.

There is also my contact page and the page with useful links. In addition to the links of organizations I posted already, there will be several links to the final projects accomplished by the students of this class.

In order to make the website more visible within social media, I have also created a facebook page that is going to represent the website. “Truly Yourself” is already searchable by Google, Yahoo and other search engines, but all of us can contribute towards spreading the word by liking “Truly Yourself’s” facebook page and making comments in the blog.
